6 Diseases That Occur More In Women Than In Men

Like many other things, problems also come differently in men and women’s life. There are certain diseases that occur more in women than in women. Females are passed through some stages from which men can never pass. Nature has provided different roles to men and women. Yes, Men and Women both lead to the production of a child. But only women have to pass through a complicated 9-month period called pregnancy. And during pregnancy, many women acquire some types of diseases or disorders called autoimmune diseases. Not just during pregnancy, but women also acquire some diseases during other stages of life. In comparison to young women, auto-immune and other types of diseases occur more in adult women. Below, I have shared 6 diseases that largely occur in women than in men.

  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS) –

This is a disease that particularly affects nerves. Myelin shieth fails to work properly during this disorder. Studies say that women are twice more prone to this disease than men. When addicted to this disease, women fail to get senses from different body organs and live unhappily. This disease can occur due to genes or other types of effects that occur after the pregnancy.

  • Hashimoto’s thyroiditis –

It is a disease in which the thyroid gland is attacked or irrupted by the immune system. After 10 men, one woman acquires this auto-immune disease.

  • Systemic Lupus Erythematous –

In this disease, the organs, joints, and some bones are attacked at the same time. Yes, here also the immune system causes an attack and cause vast problems. The effect of this disease occurs 9 times more in women than in men.

  • Myasthenia Gravis –

Here is one more disease than mostly occur in women. This disease specifically affects the skeletal muscles. For every man, two women develop Myasthenia Gravis. This disease also commonly occurs in adult women.

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis –

Well, this disease occurs commonly in persons. But, women suffer more of joint problems than men. For every five women, only two men develop rheumatoid arthritis because of chronic and other things.

  • Grave’s Disease –

Here is another thyroid gland disease. In this disorder, the thyroid gland is made excessively active. The reason behind this thing is autoimmunity. Quite frequently, women develop this specific disease.

  • Why Auto-immune Diseases Occur Mostly in Women?

Well, physicians and scientists have failed in finding the exact reasons behind auto-immune diseases in women. But, still, there are theories that explain something about this fact:

  • Effect of Hormones –

Do you know different types of hormones are present in men and women?

Testosterone is the hormone present in men. And, Estrogen and estrogen are the two particular sex hormones that are present in women. Women face hormones fluctuations

  1. During Pregnancy
  2. During the mensuration Cycle
  3. When they consume oral contraceptive pills

So, sex hormones of females do not work well during these periods, and they develop auto-immune diseases.

  • Genetic Differences –

DNA or chromosomes also play an important role in the development of autoimmune diseases. According to scientists, women have sophisticated immune systems. Women have more powerful inflammatory responses than men. Due to which inflammation occurs and leads to development to many auto-immune diseases. Any wrong proceeding in pregnancy leads to an autoimmune disorder.

  • Pregnancy problems –

Doctors say that some fetal cells are involved in pregnancy stage. After certain years, these fetal cells continue to operate in the circulation of female’s body. And these fetal cells offer a high risk of auto-immune diseases.

  • Genetic Theory –

According to genetic theory, women don’t have men’s X and Y chromosomes are more prone to autoimmune diseases than women who have these types of chromosomes. Only same types of chromosomes do not provide better health. This statement is very complex and further studies are still going for understanding this thing.

Final Verdict

There are some autoimmune diseases that frequently occur in women. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, the thyroid gland is attacked by the immune system. Myasthenia Gravis cause pretty much pain in the skeletal muscles. Grave’s Disease in which the thyroid glands fail to provide their best function. During Systemic Lupus Erythematous, organs, bones, and joints face attack at a particular time. These auto-immune diseases occur because of sex hormones, genetic differences, and some pregnancy problems. All women need to know about these diseases and should take specific precautions for fighting these diseases(if acquired)
