Belly fat not only looks bad. It surrounds the internal organs and increases the risk of chronic diseases. Fortunately, a new study at Pennsylvania State University, Penn State, which was attended by 52 people with elevated levels of “bad” cholesterol, found that people who ate 40 grams of almonds a day for 6 weeks, reduced the amount of fat on the belly and waist circumference compared with those who have high carbohydrate snacks with the same calorie content.
