The study was held for 10 weeks in a row from the Midwest, USA. The trial was attended by two 3rd grade classes. Teacher of one of the classes was very enthusiastic about the concept, while the second was skeptical, thinking that there will be too many outside sources of distracting attention. Each teacher took one hour per week with the surrender, after which they returned to normal, with teaching program in class.
The location in which the classes were held hours outdoors was a green area, close to school, overlooking a forest. After the classes, the level of involvement of children was evaluated after four criteria: from the perspective of the teacher; evaluation of the involvement by students about themselves and about fellow; the number of “warnings” made during the class, I mean how many times the teacher had to attract children’s attention back to the lesson; independent evaluations through photos, made by an independent observer, based on photographs made during the period of observation.
That was the lesson the effect held outdoors on the involvement of the class. How hard is it to teach, with so many sources of the distraction of attention? In this study, the level of concentration of children grew after a lesson in nature. A benefit of time spent outside was reflected in “four of the five measures for the evaluation of class involvement.”
The results showed that the involvement of students as a result of the class done outdoors was much larger than the one displayed at the hours taught inside, with carefully selected programs; These differences were not due to any teachings, any method of instruction, class (students, number of students), the period from the time of day or year, nor the order in which they were kept out of class or lessons on various topics.
The results showed that lesson held in the open air has stimulated rather than engaging class activities; After a lesson in the open air, teachers could teach almost twice as much without being forced to stop in order to warn children to concentrate in class.
The beneficial effect that nature had on children was maintained over the course of 10 lessons and different topics and was manifested in the class teacher who has positive expectations, and class one who have negative expectations from such lessons.
The results of this study suggest that the lessons conducted in nature helps pupils to be attentive and his class and can restore the ability to learn, in other words, to “shall feed on the go”.
Considering the fact that children’s exposure to nature in the course of a day of school appears to have many additional benefits, including physical and mental health, the study results support the inclusion in school curricula of some hours teaching outdoors.
Today’s kids have too many “entertainments” technological kids long occupied and away from the environment. It is about a video game or TV or other such activities, kids look to interact with their side. Many seem to forget point to teach children about their connection with the earth and their important role in protecting the planet for future generations.
For those who want it but feel uninspired, here are some ways to cultivate your consciousness in children linked to life in touch with nature: be an example for your child our children learn by imitation.
More rush will do what makes the one who takes care of him than what is told to do. 1st place thing is to turn off the tv for long periods as possible.
And when you use to try to be very selective so as to be in the child’s consciousness this is the best selection of a parent. We all know how manipulative they are television programs, including them here and those dedicated to children.
Even if they seem harmless, these channels are bombarded by advertisements of all kinds which encourages to consume unhealthy foods or to buy all sorts of toys and more and more and always something else new.
Use every activity, even the playground as a child to learn something useful. We reuse, reduce, recycle.
Children love activities in which their creativity is caused. A good idea is to ask the child to find alternative ways to reuse a disposable object in the house.
So he can turn trash into treasure. For example, if you take the roll from toilet paper and put in it some beans and then cover the ends, you realize a musical instrument. Talk to your child about the importance of minimum package and what it means to recycle and reuse.
There is nothing more magical than you put your child to plant a seed, to take care, and see how it grows. This will remind that all living things work together in order to thrive. While seeing their plant as it grows, the children feel proud and will spend more time in nature or in the garden. If you don’t have a garden, you can give your child a few pots in which to plant vegetables or flowers and he will be equally inspired. Besides that, your baby will eat a vegetable rather that he had planted it and took care of that.
Spending time in nature with your child as much time with the kids outside is the best you can offer. A picnic or a walk in the forest, in the park or on the shores of qualitatively more time than a movie or a restaurant. Allow your child to observe the beauty that exists in nature and help him to understand the link between all forms of life.
Children are very careful and wise once you understand something. Talk to them as adults. Spend time with a simple connection between species reminds us of how mysterious is life and nature and how much must we work together in nature to exist. Kids learn responsibility and compassion from time spent together with animals.
They learn to observe living things just stand in the presence of animals. Quick staining of letting your child go barefoot on grass or play in the yard and allow them to get dirty. There are researches that have linked clearly earth energy of man’s health.
Besides that, good dirt is a method to train the immune system.
Dirt is not dirty.
You can initiate cleaning programs to take your children and those of your friends and neighbors and go and clean the garbage on a beach or in a forest. When you are part of such a program, children see how change occurs under their eyes and with their help.
This will inspire and will want to do more. You don’t need complicated things, solar panels and wind farms to teach your child about saving the planet.
You can start simply by seeking to use paper or paper bags instead of plastic ones. It is important you use anything you do to remove the garbage and clean the way which can be made to be connected and to secure the planet.
You need to know how to educate the little ones to understand and respect nature. We look forward to your opinions and advice. Here we learn together!
